PPRD party members resign in Democratic Republic of the Congo

Two high-ranking members of the Parti du peuple pour la reconstruction et la démocratie (PPRD), the political party of former President Joseph Kabila, have announced their resignations.

Allegra Fosh Ngalula, a former cadre of the party, submitted her resignation from France. In her correspondence, she expressed a total dissociation from any initiatives aimed at “disturbing the peace, destabilizing institutions, or compromising the security of the population in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.” She emphasized that her decision was strictly personal and stated she does not wish to be associated, directly or indirectly, with actions that could weaken the nation's social and political fabric.

Patrick Nkanga Bekonda, the rapporteur of the PPRD political bureau, also announced his departure, citing personal reasons. Having been with the party since 2006, Nkanga described the decision as “heavy and painful.” He indicated a desire to take time for reflection before pursuing a new political direction, potentially working with others to build a governance alternative based on patriotic and republican values.
