PPZ Trzemeszno begins construction of major potato starch silo

Przedsiębiorstwo Przemysłu Ziemniaczanego (PPZ) Trzemeszno has commenced construction on a major new starch silo in Poland. The project, which involves a reinforced concrete structure, is being executed by the contractor STRABAG.

The new facility is designed to hold over 60,000 tons of potato starch, making it one of the largest of its kind in Poland and a significant facility within Europe. The construction will utilize approximately 6,000 cubic meters of concrete and 312 tons of steel. The silo will feature automated loading, unloading, and control systems.

According to PPZ Trzemeszno President Jarosław Rogalski, the investment aims to optimize internal logistics and allow the company to respond more stably to market demands by enabling longer storage periods. The project also seeks to reduce the use of packaging materials like big-bags, pallets, and film. Technological testing is scheduled for May 2027, with the facility expected to be operational before the August 2027 potato campaign.
