PR Sreejesh sets top-four target for India at 2026 Hockey World Cup

Former Indian hockey captain and two-time Olympic medalist PR Sreejesh has stated that a top-four finish should be the minimum target for the Indian men's team at the 2026 FIH Hockey Men's World Cup.

Sreejesh emphasized that the squad possesses the necessary quality, depth, and experience to compete for a title, noting that any medal finish would be a bonus. He advised players to embrace the pressure of the tournament rather than letting it affect their performance, urging them to stay calm and trust their training.

The tournament is scheduled to take place from August 14 to August 30, 2026, in Belgium and the Netherlands. India has been drawn into Pool D alongside England, Pakistan, and Wales, with their pool-stage matches set to be played in Amstelveen, Netherlands.
