Prabowo directs Hajj Ministry to reduce costs and waiting times

President Prabowo Subianto has instructed the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to develop a cost formulation for the Hajj pilgrimage that does not place an excessive financial burden on pilgrims. During a meeting at the State Palace, the President suggested a financing formula of approximately 52 to 48 to ensure affordability.

In addition to cost management, the government is working to reduce Hajj waiting times. Following a validation process of 5.7 million pilgrim records, officials identified and removed approximately 400,000 invalid entries. This data cleanup has resulted in the average national waiting time dropping to 14 years, down from a previous estimate of 26 years and a historical peak of 49 years.
