Prabowo proposes ad hoc court to investigate BUMN mismanagement

President Prabowo Subianto has proposed the establishment of an ad hoc court to investigate alleged mismanagement and irregularities within state-owned enterprises (BUMN) spanning the last 30 years. During his speech at the Annual Session of the MPR in Jakarta, the President highlighted significant governance issues, noting that many state-owned companies are unproductive and consistently incur losses despite reporting profits in their financial statements.

Prabowo emphasized the need for a specialized mechanism to hold former directors accountable, suggesting that the scale of potential misconduct is too large for standard procedures. He also indicated that he would consult with the House of Representatives regarding the possibility of granting special amnesty to former officials who admit to their mistakes and seek to rectify their actions.

The President expressed concern that current practices within these enterprises, including some involving foreign partnerships, must be eliminated to prevent further harm to the nation.
