Prabowo Subianto discusses West Kalimantan forest fires with Panglima Jilah

President Prabowo Subianto met with Panglima Jilah, leader of the Tariu Borneo Bangkule Rajakng (TBBR) from the Dayak Kanayatn tribe, at the State Palace to discuss forest and land fire (karhutla) management in West Kalimantan.

During the meeting, Panglima Jilah stated that the President supports indigenous communities and traditional farmers. He emphasized that indigenous people have a close connection to nature and a responsibility to monitor land clearing and prevent illegal burning. Jilah also addressed misconceptions regarding traditional farming, noting that farmers typically work on mineral land rather than peatlands, which are often blamed for smoke production.

To strengthen fire management efforts, the government has committed to deploying additional personnel, providing helicopters, and implementing weather modification techniques. The President has already begun mobilizing personnel to assist in West Kalimantan.
