Prabowo Subianto orders end to BPJS patient discrimination

President Prabowo Subianto has instructed hospitals to ensure there is no discrimination in medical services between BPJS Kesehatan participants and general patients. Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin emphasized that the government aims to improve the quality of BPJS services, specifically targeting the reduction of long patient queues at healthcare facilities.

To support these improvements and stabilize the organization's cash flow, the government has approved a Rp20 trillion funding injection for BPJS Kesehatan this year. This capital will be disbursed in two stages: Rp10 trillion in September and the remaining Rp10 trillion in November 2026. The Minister noted that the funding should facilitate smoother claim payments to hospitals, which in turn should allow for better service delivery to the public.
