Prachatice hosts historical reenactment of 1938 border tensions
Approximately one thousand visitors gathered near Libín to observe a historical reenactment titled ‘Hot September’, which depicted the tensions on the Czechoslovak border in 1938.
Organized by the Colonel Ludvík Fanta Military History Club, the event utilized period-accurate clothing, motorcycles, and armored vehicles to recreate two scenarios. The first depicted gendarmes defending against a Freikorps attack, while the second showed a German reconnaissance unit advancing against border fortifications. The reenactment concluded with the acceptance of the Munich Agreement and the redrawing of borders.
The event took place at a recently restored bunker, which organizers prepared over the course of a year to resemble its 1938 state. About fifty performers participated in the demonstration.
