Prachatice selects contractor for 152 million CZK pool expansion

The town of Prachatice has selected the company Auböck to carry out a 152 million CZK (excluding VAT) expansion and modernization of its sports and relaxation center. The project includes expanding the existing swimming pool, constructing a toboggan, adding new relaxation and wash-out pools, and enlarging the sauna world to include a Šumava herbal sauna.

The tender process, which began in late 2024 using a Design & Build method, saw 18 suppliers express initial interest, though only three submitted formal bids. To align with the town's financial capabilities, the evaluation committee optimized the project specifications, resulting in the current cost estimate.

While funding is prepared—including a 50 million CZK subsidy from the South Bohemian Region—the incoming local leadership has expressed reservations. Martin Malý, the incoming mayor, indicated a desire to review the tender, suggesting that the high cost might necessitate returning to a phased construction approach rather than the current single-stage plan.
