Prague 2 Launches Citywide Accessibility Mapping for Municipal Housing
The Prague 2 district is cooperating with the Prague Wheelchair Organization to assess the accessibility of its entire municipal housing stock, which comprises about three thousand apartments. The mapping will evaluate not only wheelchair access but also suitability for residents with visual impairments and other mobility challenges.
Spokesperson Andrea Zoulová said the effort follows the new housing support law that took effect at the start of 2026 and aims to create a detailed database for assigning apartments according to individual needs and for planning future barrier‑free renovations. Deputy mayor Lucie Pechová added that around 150 units are repaired each year, and the district hopes the comprehensive accessibility map will improve allocation, investment planning and overall housing availability for seniors and people with disabilities.
