Prague 4 opens barrier-free playground in Nusle
The Prague 4 district has opened a new barrier-free playground in the Na Pankráci park in Nusle, located near the Vyšehrad Táborská Gate. The project, which cost six million CZK, is designed to allow children with disabilities and non-disabled children to play together in an inclusive environment.
Key features of the playground include a barrier-free merry-go-round, a specialized swing for wheelchair users, a rocking car, a slide, and a maze with movable objects. The installation also included a completely new surface for the entire area.
The location was chosen due to its proximity to the Jedličkův ústav, the oldest Czech facility for children and youth with physical disabilities. District Mayor Ondřej Kubín stated that the playground provides access to activities that are otherwise difficult for children with disabilities to reach. The initiative was originally proposed by district representative Tomáš Chaloupka to promote social integration through play.
