Prague allocates 308.5 million CZK for new and renovated municipal housing
The Prague City Hall approved a total of 308.5 million CZK in grants for four city districts to build new rental apartments and renovate existing blocks. The funds are split among Prague 5 (148.5 million CZK), Prague 14 (45 million CZK), Horní Počernice (50 million CZK) and Kolovrat (65 million CZK). Projects include a 50‑unit building in Kolovrat, a small development with eight apartments and medical offices in Horní Počernice, extensive façade insulation, window replacement and lift installation on Plzeňská street, and repairs to roofs and balconies in Prague 14.
The city’s municipal housing stock holds about 29,800 apartments, of which the magistrate directly manages roughly 7,200. Officials aim to expand the supply of affordable rentals, targeting a long‑term goal of 6,000‑8,000 new municipal units through the city‑owned developer Pražská developerská společnost.
