Prague approves official names for future Metro Line D stations

The Prague City Council has officially approved the names for the future stations of Metro Line D. The decision replaces previous working titles with official names intended to better reflect local geography and historical context.

Key changes include the station formerly known as Náměstí Bratří Synků, which will now be named Nusle. This station will serve as a major transfer hub with entrances at both Náměstí Bratří Synků and Otakarova. Additionally, the station previously referred to as Olbrachtova will be named Ryšánka, a name derived from a mid-19th-century local estate. The decision to avoid the name Olbrachtova was influenced by the controversial communist political past of the writer Ivan Olbracht.

The confirmed station names for the line are Náměstí Míru, Nusle, Pankrác, Ryšánka, Nádraží Krč, Nemocnice Krč, Nové Dvory, Libuš, and Písnice. The city is still determining the name for the final station near the depot.
