Prague auction to feature rare coins and medals worth millions

Macho Numismatic Galleries is hosting a major numismatic auction in Prague, featuring over 3,400 coins, medals, and banknotes with a total starting price of nearly 150 million Czech koruna. The event, held at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Malá Strana, includes an in-person and online session.

Among the highlights is a gold ten-ducat medal from 1686 commemorating the liberation of Buda, which has a starting price of 120,000 euros (approximately 3 million CZK). This piece is noted as the largest Kremnica minting produced with a hand press. Other significant items include a 1612 five-ducat coin from Matthias II, minted in Prague for his coronation, and several four-talar coins, some of which possess documented provenance dating back to 1886.
