Prague wastewater plant completes new 396 million CZK pre-treatment facility

Pražská vodohospodářská společnost (PVS) has completed the construction of a new coarse pre-treatment facility at the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant (ÚČOV) in Prague. The project, which cost approximately 396 million CZK, was executed by STRABAG Rail.

The new facility is designed to protect the technological equipment of the main pumping station and includes advanced deodorization units to significantly reduce odor emissions in the surrounding area. The building features four mechanically cleaned coarse screens that capture debris, which is then pressed, washed, and moved into closed containers for disposal or potential use as fuel.

Construction began in October 2023 and the facility entered trial operation in August 2024. The project was completed in stages to ensure the continuous operation of the wastewater treatment plant. The facility also incorporates photovoltaic panels on its roof to support sustainability.
