Prague advances transit modernization with tram and trolleybus upgrades

Prague is undergoing significant public transport upgrades, including the early completion of the Muzeum tramway reconstruction. The project, costing CZK 224.7 million, allows tram lines 11 and 13 to return to their original routes near the National Museum nearly six months ahead of schedule. The renovated area features fully accessible stops and a new safety pilot involving illuminated flashing strips to warn distracted pedestrians of approaching trams.

Simultaneously, the Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) has taken delivery of the first 11 Bozankaya SNG 12T battery-powered trolleybuses from Turkey. This is part of a larger order for 30 vehicles. Three of these units have already entered regular service on line 51, with others being prepared for lines 52 and 53 to replace existing bus services.

Additionally, the city continues to modernize its fleet with new Škoda Transportation trams. The city aims to have 40 modern, climate-controlled trams in operation by the end of the year, with long-term plans to expand the fleet to 200 vehicles through a multi-billion koruna investment partially funded by European Union grants.
