Prague demonstrators protest against Babiš government

Thousands of demonstrators gathered in Prague's Old Town Square to protest against the government of Prime Minister Andrej Babiš. Organized by the Million Moments movement, the rally focused on urging citizens to participate in the upcoming municipal and Senate elections scheduled for October 9 and 10.

Speakers at the event criticized the government's handling of security, its approach to disinformation, and proposed changes to the funding model for public broadcasters, such as Czech Television and Czech Radio. Demonstrators also raised concerns regarding Babiš's potential conflict of interest related to his business holdings in the Agrofert conglomerate, noting that the European Commission has previously deemed current measures insufficient.

In the Czech Parliament, opposition parties have moved to hold a no-confidence vote against the Babiš administration. The opposition cites a significant budget deficit, the Prime Minister's conflicts of interest, and perceived attacks on independent institutions, including the judiciary and the media, as primary reasons for the motion.
