Prague expands total pyrotechnics ban to 35 districts

Prague city representatives have approved an amendment to expand the total ban on pyrotechnics across the city. The number of municipal districts implementing a complete ban has increased from 20 to 35.

The new regulation includes an exception for non-noisy pyrotechnic products used by professionals, such as those in film and television productions, provided they comply with existing pyrotechnic laws. For areas where fireworks are permitted during New Year celebrations, the allowed window has been shortened to the period between 5:00 PM on December 31 and 2:00 AM on January 1.

Strict prohibitions remain in place for heritage reserves, watercourses (within 50 meters of the shore), and within 250 meters of healthcare facilities, senior homes, animal shelters, veterinary emergency services, the Prague Zoo, and natural parks.
