Prague extends public lighting project to support e-mobility

The Prague City Council has approved the extension of three key contracts related to the public lighting network upgrade project through December 31, 2028. The initiative aims to modernize the city's lighting infrastructure while integrating it with the development of e-mobility.

A central component of the project is the “Synergy” initiative, which coordinates the modernization of public lighting with the renewal of the electrical distribution network. By performing these tasks simultaneously along the same routes, the city intends to minimize repeated disruptions to street surfaces and reduce the impact on residents and commuters.

Beyond simply installing chargers on lamp posts, the project focuses on ensuring that selected street lamps have sufficient electrical capacity to support future electric vehicle charging stations. The extension was granted because initial projects required more time than originally anticipated and allocated funds have not yet been fully exhausted.
