Prague Fashion Week showcases upcycling and Y2K trends
The Mercedes-Benz Prague Fashion Week (MBPFW) SS27 showcased a diverse range of styles, from upcycled materials to Y2K nostalgia. Designers presented collections that emphasized different aesthetic directions, including student experiments and precise tailoring.
Jana Horejšová, under her brand On the Boat, presented the MEMBRANE collection, which utilized upcycled materials and second-hand textiles to create architectural silhouettes. Hana Valtová’s Essence collection, inspired by Coco Chanel, featured a black-and-white palette with satin accents and hair styled with bows.
The event also highlighted emerging talent from the Technical University in Liberec and the Tomas Bata University in Zlin. Beyond the runway, fashion trends such as the return of Y2K-inspired layered skirts over trousers are gaining traction, evolving into more sophisticated, minimalist versions for modern wardrobes.
