Prague highlights its diverse design and architectural heritage
Prague continues to establish itself as a major European creative hub, blending historical craftsmanship with modern design. The city's architectural landscape ranges from Gothic and Baroque to Art Deco and contemporary installations.
In the hospitality sector, the Alcron Hotel serves as a notable example of Art Deco preservation, featuring renovated rooms that combine historical elements like marble staircases and brass handrails with modern comfort. The hotel also acts as a partner for DesignBlok, one of Europe's largest design fairs.
Urban residential design is also evolving through significant renovations. In Prague's Old Town, the studio Facha architekti recently completed a project on Staroměstská street, transforming a cluttered historical apartment into two functional units. The renovation focused on preserving original details such as paneled doors and window frames while integrating bold colors and contemporary art to create a gallery-like living space.
The city's contemporary art scene is further defined by artists like David Cerny, whose provocative works, including the moving Kafka head and various sculptures, are prominent landmarks throughout the city.
