Prague Infant Jesus statue sent to Ireland as cultural symbol

A blessed replica of the Prague Infant Jesus statue is being sent to County Kerry, Ireland, as a symbol of friendship and cultural exchange. The initiative was launched by the Czech Republic’s ambassador to Ireland as part of the Irish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, during which County Kerry was designated as a partner region for presenting Czech culture and traditions.

The statue, which features clothing designed by fashion designer Zuzana Kubíčková to represent Czech identity, was officially blessed by Prague Archbishop Mons. Stanislav Přibyl on August 31. The ceremony was attended by Prague Mayor Bohuslav Svoboda. The gift aims to strengthen ties between the Czech Republic and Ireland, recalling their shared journey within the European Union.

Ambassador Pavel Vošalík will personally accompany the statue to Ireland, where it will be presented to Mons. Raymond Anthony Browne, the Bishop of County Kerry. The Irish public will have its first opportunity to view the statue on September 8 during a traditional pilgrimage mass in Ballyheigue.
