Prague issues 1 billion CZK tender to convert Brandejsův statek into gymnasium

Prague has launched a tender worth approximately 1.066 billion CZK (excluding VAT) to reconstruct the historic Brandejsův statek, also known as the Suchdol Chateau, into a gymnasium. The project will utilize a ‘design and build’ method, where a single contractor manages both the engineering documentation and the subsequent construction.

The planned school will consist of 12 classes with a capacity for 408 students. The facility will repurpose existing historical structures, including the chateau, smithy, barn, carriage house, and sheepfold, while also adding two new buildings, one of which will house a gymnasium.

In addition to educational facilities, the site will continue to host a municipal police unit, including a riding group and stables. The plan also includes preserving space for horse breeding and establishing a small community and cultural center. This initiative aims to address the long-term shortage of secondary school places in Prague caused by population growth and commuting students.
