Prague misting devices cleared of Legionella in hygiene inspections

Hygiene inspections of misting and cooling devices connected to the Prague water network have confirmed they are safe. In August, the Prague Hygiene Station sampled ten randomly selected devices operated by Prague Water and Sewerage (PVK). Laboratory analyses found no presence of the Legionella bacterium in any of the tested samples.

These inspections were conducted to mitigate risks associated with the aerosolized water used in the devices, which people inhale. The checks are part of a first-of-its-kind nationwide audit of misting systems in the Czech Republic. Following the evaluation of results from all regions, authorities will decide whether these devices will be subject to permanent hygienic supervision.
