Prague opens new Opatov parking garage for 495 vehicles
A new parking garage has opened in Chilská Street near the Opatov metro station in Prague. The facility offers 495 parking spaces, specifically designed to serve as a Park and Ride (P+R) hub for drivers arriving via the D1 highway. This allows commuters to leave their vehicles at the edge of the city and continue into the center using metro line C or local bus services.
The garage includes specialized amenities such as ten spaces for people with disabilities, 43 spots for CNG or LPG vehicles, 32 bicycle parking spaces, and charging stations for electric vehicles on the fifth floor. While the facility is intended for commuters, 100 spaces are reserved for local residents of Prague 11, with approximately half already leased.
Managed by the Technical Administration of Communications (TSK), the garage operates 24/7. The initial 24-hour parking rate is set at 50 CZK, with subsequent hours costing 10 CZK. Future developments around the site include the creation of a rooftop park for a nearby senior home and additional landscaping and sidewalk improvements.
