Prague police intervene in Vinohrady apartment siege

Police units, including a tactical response team and negotiators, were dispatched to an apartment in the Vinohrady district of Prague after a man with a mental illness barricaded himself inside. The suspect was reported not to be armed. Police spokesperson Richard Hrdina confirmed the presence of the special‑operations unit and said officers were working to secure the situation and persuade the individual to surrender.

The incident remains under investigation, with authorities monitoring the scene for any escalation while ensuring public safety in the surrounding neighbourhood.
