Prague police seek man for threatening tram passengers with knife
Prague police are searching for a man accused of threatening a family with a knife on a tram. The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon on tram line 22, traveling from Malostranská toward Malostranské náměstí.
According to police spokesperson Richard Hrdina, the confrontation began when a man started shouting abusively at a small child who was crying. The situation escalated when the suspect allegedly pulled a knife from his pocket and threatened to kill both the child and the accompanying passengers. The suspect fled the tram at Malostranské náměstí.
Investigators have obtained camera footage of the suspect, who is described as having the appearance of a homeless person. He was seen wearing high leather boots, black shorts with white stripes, and a black T-shirt, while carrying a brown imitation-leather jacket and another jacket with an orange lining. The man is a suspect in an extortion case, which carries a potential prison sentence of up to eight years.
