Prague political parties negotiate coalition and council roles

Representatives from the STAN, SPOLU, and Praha sobě political groups met in Prague to negotiate a potential coalition government. The parties have discussed a preliminary division of council responsibilities (gesce) to form a functional administration.

Under the proposed arrangement, STAN would hold five positions, including development, education, security, environment, and IT. SPOLU would manage four areas: finance, social and health affairs, infrastructure, and culture. Praha sobě is slated to receive two roles: transport and property management.

STAN leader Petr Hlaváček, who is seeking the position of mayor, aims to finalize the agreement before the inaugural assembly on November 19. While STAN and SPOLU hold a majority together with 34 of the 65 seats, Hlaváček is pursuing a broader coalition. Further negotiations are scheduled for Tuesday, October 27, to address remaining program points and potential discussions with the Piráti party.
