Prague Pride loses sponsors as Czech support for same‑sex marriage declines

A recent Deník poll of nearly ten thousand respondents found that 46 % of Czechs support legalising same‑sex marriage, with support strongest among people under 30 (about 60 %) and falling to roughly 25 % among those over 60. The survey also showed that younger participants see no difference between homosexual and heterosexual love, while older respondents are more uncertain. Support is highest in Prague and other large cities and lower in Moravia and Silesia, where traditional and Catholic influences remain stronger.

At the same time, the 16th edition of Prague Pride is experiencing a noticeable drop in corporate sponsorship. Organisers say overall corporate contributions are 10‑20 % lower than in the previous two years, amounting to a loss of roughly one million Czech crowns. Companies such as Microsoft and Deloitte have reduced their support, reflecting a broader global trend away from “pink‑washing”. Vodafone remains the event’s general partner, and long‑standing sponsors Škoda Auto, Durex and the hotel chain Mamashelter continue their involvement. The festival now relies more heavily on visitor contributions and a few new sponsors, including the brand Niceboy owned by industrialist Pavel Drobil.
