Prague replaces bus line 137 with electric trolleybus line 52
The Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) is transitioning bus line 137 to a fully electric trolleybus line, designated as line 52. Starting Monday, September 21, 2026, the new service will operate between Na Knížecí and Jinonice, passing through Santoška, Malvazinky, and Waltrovka.
The fleet will primarily consist of new 12-meter Bozankaya SNG 12T battery trolleybuses, with 11 vehicles prepared for regular service and others serving as backups. SOR TNS 12 trolleybuses will also be utilized. Diesel buses will remain available only as operational reserves.
This change aims to provide quieter, zero-emission transport, which is particularly beneficial for the hilly terrain of the Malvazinky area, where slopes can reach nine percent. The transition is part of a broader electrification strategy for bus routes on the left bank of the Vltava, which includes future plans for lines 131, 176, and 191.
