Prague reports continued decline in Hepatitis A cases

The spread of Hepatitis A in Prague is continuing to slow down, according to the Prague Hygiene Station. In August, only nine new cases were recorded in the capital, including two children. This is a significant decrease compared to the same month last year, when 133 cases were reported.

Since the beginning of the year, Prague has recorded a total of 322 cases, including 70 children. The number of new infections has shown a consistent downward trend throughout the year, dropping from 18 cases in June to 12 in July. Health officials noted that a standard situation typically involves only a few cases per month, most of which are imported from abroad.

Nationwide, the National Institute of Public Health reported 1,483 total cases in the Czech Republic through the end of August. The South Moravian Region has seen the highest number of infections in the country with 468 cases, followed by Prague. This follows a major outbreak last year, during which the Czech Republic saw 3,255 infections, approximately five times more than the previous year.
