Prague Science Film Fest and Jihlava Documentary Festival announce award winners

The Prague Science Film Fest has concluded its latest edition at the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague. The main prize for best international scientific documentary was awarded to ‘Derek vs Derek’, directed by James Dawson, which explores conflicting views on British rural land management through humor. The student jury selected ‘Mykokosmos’, while the American documentary ‘André Is an Idiot’ received a special recognition.

Separately, the International Documentary Film Festival (MFDF) in Jihlava has commenced. Czech documentarian Helena Třeštíková is being honored with the Award for Contribution to World Cinema. The festival will feature her work, including a series on singer Bára Basiková. Additionally, Vietnamese-American filmmaker Trinh T. Minh-ha will receive the same award during the festival's closing ceremony, accompanied by a retrospective of her essayistic documentary films that challenge traditional anthropological perspectives.
