Prague Stock Exchange falls as banking stocks decline
The Prague Stock Exchange saw its PX index decline by 0.7% on Wednesday, reaching its lowest level since July 28. The downturn was driven primarily by losses in the banking and insurance sectors, with VIG dropping 2.42% and Moneta Money Bank falling 1.17%.
In contrast, defense company CSG rose by 1.70% following the announcement that it will supply artillery and rocket systems to the Latvian army. Energy giant ČEZ also saw slight gains of 0.22%. Additionally, the Slovak government has approved the purchase of a 49% stake in ČEZ's JESS unit for 189 million EUR.
Other notable movements included a 1.09% decrease for Philip Morris ČR and a 1.92% drop for Doosan Škoda Power. The Czech koruna remained stable against the euro at 24.43 CZK/EUR.
