Prague Stock Exchange Gains as CEZ Rises and CSG Slides to New Low
On Thursday the Prague Stock Exchange (PX) rose 0.23% to 2,561.1 points, led by a 0.65% increase in energy utility CEZ to about 1,230 CZK. Other gainers included Moneta (+1.17%), Komerční banka (+0.52%), VIG (+0.38%) and Doosan Škoda Power (+1.89%). Weapons maker CSG fell sharply, slipping to a new trough below 300 CZK, while overall trading volumes and investor activity stayed muted. The Czech koruna edged slightly higher versus the dollar.
The local market move occurred against a backdrop of wider market nervousness. Technology shares fell globally – Apple dropped 6% after raising prices and Japan’s SoftBank tumbled about 14% amid speculation of a delayed OpenAI IPO. Brent crude slipped below $74 a barrel. In the chemicals sector, Bayer secured a favorable Supreme Court decision in its Roundup cancer‑liability case, providing a boost to its share price.
