Prague Stock Exchange PX index sees slight decline after four-week growth
The Prague Stock Exchange experienced a slight decline following a four-week period of growth. The PX index fell by approximately 0.2 percent to 2,784.6 points, reflecting a minor correction after recently reaching historical highs above 2,800 points.
Market activity remained low, with average trading volumes reaching less than 40 percent of their long-term average, a trend attributed to the holiday season. Analysts noted that the market moved largely sideways as investors adopted a more cautious approach to risky assets amid geopolitical tensions and volatility in the bond market.
Performance varied significantly among major stocks. The defense company CSG saw a notable decline, dropping nearly 6 percent after five consecutive weeks of gains. In contrast, energy giant ČEZ and Doosan Škoda Power both recorded gains, with ČEZ rising by 0.81 percent. The banking and insurance sectors showed mixed results, with Moneta and Komerční banka posting modest increases, while Erste Group saw a decrease.
