Czech July tourism hits record numbers at South Bohemian sites and Prague Zoo
State‑run monuments in South Bohemia recorded 431,005 visitors up to 30 July, with the Český Krumlov castle and chateau attracting 131,073 guests (up 1.9% YoY) and Hluboká Castle 110,954 visitors (up 7.5% in July). Jindřichův Hradec saw a 2.5% rise since the start of the year and a 9.4% jump in July, helped by new night tours and exhibitions. The Lipno area also reported strong demand, with the reservoir’s attractions drawing tens of thousands of visitors.
In Prague, the zoo reached a July record of about 233,000 visitors, surpassing the previous high of 231,231 set in 2017, bringing its annual total to roughly 859,000, comparable with last year. Director Lenka Poliaková attributed the surge to good weather, popular young animals and a reduced evening ticket price of 100 CZK after 17:00. The adjacent Botanical Garden logged around 240,000 visitors this year, including over 20,000 in July, boosted by a new exhibition. Officials from the National Heritage Institute and zoo spokespeople highlighted the overall high public interest in cultural and natural attractions during the summer season.
