Prague tram drivers win European Championship in Warsaw
A team from Prague, consisting of Vendula Tmejová and Zdeněk Rychtář, won the 12th European Tramdriver Championship (Tram-EM) held in Warsaw. The Czech duo secured first place with a combined score of 6,000 points, outperforming teams from Oradea, Romania, and Sofia, Bulgaria.
The competition involved 25 European teams and one guest team from Australia, testing skills such as precision braking, maintaining specific speeds, and lateral distance judgment. The event also included unconventional challenges like ‘tram bowling’ and reversing trams using only whistle commands.
In individual categories, Andrii Bichev from Kyiv, Ukraine, was named the best male driver, while Hilda Polamová from Tampere, Finland, won the women's title. Zdeněk Rychtář placed second in the men's individual competition, and Vendula Tmejová placed third in the women's.
