Prague transit depot installs largest BIPV solar plant in Czech Republic

The Prague Public Transit Company has completed the largest Building-Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) power plant in the Czech Republic at its Kačerov depot. The project features a vertical solar facade on a ten-story administrative building, utilizing 150 panels on the southwest side to generate electricity.

This energy will power the building and any surplus will be fed into the traction network to support the Prague metro. The investment in energy-saving measures at the depot reached 423.3 million CZK, supported by European Union subsidies from the National Recovery Plan. Through an EPC agreement with ČEZ ESCO, the company is projected to save approximately 152 million CZK over ten years, with total savings from various measures expected to reach at least 177 million CZK.
