Prague Transport Company issues tender for 140 battery trolleybuses

The Prague Public Transit Company (DPP) has launched a public tender for the procurement of up to 140 new battery-powered trolleybuses. The estimated value of the contract is 2.64 billion CZK excluding VAT, with the winning bidder entering into a five-year framework agreement.

The order includes two categories of vehicles: up to 80 articulated trolleybuses (18 meters long) and up to 60 standard vehicles (12 meters long). The tender also covers the acquisition of up to 140 spare traction batteries, 35 diagnostic hardware and software sets, six portable chargers, and comprehensive maintenance and energy management support.

Technical requirements specify a minimum design speed of 70 km/h for both overhead line and battery modes, alongside energy recuperation during braking. The vehicles must guarantee a minimum battery range of 20 kilometers under full passenger load, including the use of heating, air conditioning, and lighting. The procurement aims to support the gradual electrification of Prague's bus network and the expansion of trolleybus lines.
