Prague water heritage sites launch public tours and education centre plans
Prague Waterworks and Sewerage (PVK) is holding a free, guided walk around the historic Podolská waterworks today at 16:00. Participants meet at the main gate on Podolská street; the tour will be led by historian Kryštof Drnek with commentary from deputy mayor Michal Hroza. Registration is required via the PVK website.
The city’s historic Bubenčík wastewater treatment plant, a national cultural monument celebrating its 120th anniversary, is slated to become an educational centre on water ecology after a multi‑year reconstruction. The operator, Trade Centre Prague (TCP), outlined celebrations including a chimney‑climbing event and the re‑release of the comic "Tajemství staré čistírny". A technical survey will run for two to three years, with rebuilding expected to begin roughly five years from now. The plant, built between 1901‑1906 by engineer William Heerlein Lindley, served Prague until 1967 and has featured in several films.
