Prague-Wrocław rail services to expand with new trains and locomotives
Rail transport connectivity between Prague and Wrocław is set to expand. Following the success of the Baltic Express, a new pair of IC Glacensis trains will be added to the schedule starting in the 2026/2027 timetable. These new services will complement the existing four pairs of Baltic Express trains, providing more frequent connections between the two cities.
Additionally, PKP Intercity plans to modernize the fleet on these routes. The carrier intends to replace the current Vectron locomotives with new Griffin 200 electric locomotives, manufactured by Newag. While PKP Intercity aims to deploy these Griffins in the Czech Republic by December 2026, Czech Railways expects the full transition to occur within the 2027 timetable. The implementation is subject to the completion of the approval process by the European Union Agency for Railways (ERA) and the necessary training for drivers.
