Praha sobě settles copyright dispute over campaign video

The political movement Praha sobě has reached a settlement regarding a campaign video that used music inspired by Rihanna’s song ‘Diamonds’. The dispute arose after the movement released a pre-election clip featuring leader Adam Scheinherr rapping lyrics that included the phrase ‘Scheinherr like a diamond’.

Music publishing companies A-Tempro Verlag and Schubert Music Publishing filed a lawsuit to prevent further publication of the audiovisual work, alleging copyright infringement. Under the terms of the settlement, Praha sobě will refrain from further use of the video and will remove it from the internet platforms where the movement originally published it.

Legal representative František Vyskočil stated that the settlement was reached because the dispute had become redundant following the municipal elections. He maintained that the movement did not admit to any copyright violations. The settlement follows the movement's previous attempt to replace the original video on YouTube with a shortened version.
