Romania sees string of fatal traffic accidents across multiple counties

A series of serious traffic accidents occurred in Romania over the weekend, resulting in multiple deaths and injuries. In Prahova County, a bus collided with a truck near Șirna; the truck driver, a 70‑year‑old, was rescued and flown to hospital by a SMURD helicopter, while the bus driver refused transport. In Oradea, Bihor County, a passenger train struck a car at a level crossing, killing the two occupants, a man and a woman, and halting rail traffic on the line.

Hunedoara County reported two separate crashes within hours. A 74‑year‑old driver died after his car slammed into a bridge head in Bretea Strei. Later, on the A1 motorway near Orăștie, a car collided with a truck’s trailer; the car driver was severely injured and hospitalized, while the truck driver was unharmed. In Suceava County, a young driver aged 18 lost his life after his car hit a guard rail in Moldovița, with two other youths injured. Finally, in Iași County, five people were injured in a two‑vehicle collision near Maxut, Deleni commune.

Emergency services, including fire brigades, SMURD medical teams, and ambulance units, responded to each incident, conducting rescues, providing first aid, and transporting victims to hospitals where needed.
