Prahova labor market sees decline in active employees

The labor market in Prahova is experiencing a significant downturn, with data from the Territorial Labor Inspectorate (ITM) showing a decline in active employees. As of August 24, 2026, the number of employees with active individual labor contracts fell to 178,328, representing a decrease of approximately 25,177 workers (12.4%) compared to the end of 2024.

In the last year alone, 12 employers in the county reported collective layoffs, with six of those instances affecting more than 50 employees each. Major industrial employers in the region include Yazaki România in Ploiești, Cris-Tim Family Holding in Filipeștii de Pădure, and Cameron România in Câmpina. Yazaki România has seen its workforce decrease from 4,000 to 2,240 employees.
