Praia Grande: Businessman dies of heart attack after chasing cell phone thief
José Aparecido dos Santos, a 69-year-old businessman, died following a heart attack after pursuing a suspect who attempted to steal his cell phone in Praia Grande, São Paulo. The incident occurred on Saturday, the 17th, in the Guilhermina neighborhood.
Security footage captured the moment a suspect on a bicycle approached Santos in front of his shop and attempted to snatch the device from his hands. Following the attempt, Santos and a store employee pursued the suspect in a vehicle. During the chase, Santos fell ill and lost consciousness.
Despite receiving first aid from a passerby identified as an auxiliary nurse and the arrival of an ambulance, Santos did not survive. He leaves behind a wife and seven children. Local police are currently working to identify the suspect captured in the video recordings.
