Praia Grande integrates private cameras into public security center

The city of Praia Grande has launched the ‘Olho de Hórus’ program, which integrates private surveillance cameras into the municipal public monitoring center. Through this voluntary initiative, residents, residential condominiums, commercial establishments, and private security companies can share real-time video feeds with the Integrated Command and Special Operations Center (Cicoe).

Regulated by Municipal Law No. 2.304, the program aims to expand urban surveillance angles to support preventive and ostensive security operations. The registration process is free and complies with the General Data Protection Law (LGPD). The city’s existing technological infrastructure includes over 3,700 public cameras connected via a 300-kilometer fiber optic network, utilizing artificial intelligence for facial recognition and automatic license plate recognition (OCR).
