Prajwal Revanna: Mobile phone with pornographic videos seized in Bengaluru prison raid

During a surprise raid by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) at Parappana Agrahara Central Prison in Bengaluru, a mobile phone was recovered from the cell of former MP Prajwal Revanna. Revanna, who is serving a life sentence for rape, was found in possession of an Android device that reportedly contained between 80 and 90 downloaded pornographic videos and newspaper cuttings featuring women in revealing clothing.

Another inmate, Prathap Rai, was also found with a mobile phone. Authorities have registered a case against both individuals under Section 42 of the Prisons Act for possessing prohibited items. Investigations suggest an Andhra Pradesh SIM card may have been used to bypass prison signal jammers.

In response to the security breach, Assistant Superintendent Iranna Rangapur has been suspended, and the Superintendent of Bengaluru Central Prison has been issued a show-cause notice. Following the incident, Revanna was reportedly moved from a VIP cell to a general cell housing approximately 20 other prisoners. The Congress party has demanded strict action, alleging that political connections may have facilitated the access to the device.
