Pramono Anung inaugurates Jakarta church after 25-year permit delay
Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung inaugurated the Seventh-day Adventist Church of Taman Harapan Jaya in Cililitan, East Jakarta, on October 25, 2026. The construction of the church had been delayed for over 25 years due to complex licensing issues, including a halt in 1998 caused by the monetary crisis and reform era.
During the ceremony, the Governor emphasized his commitment to accelerating the permit process for houses of worship. He noted that once administrative requirements are met, approvals such as the Building Approval (PBG) should be processed within one to two weeks. Pramono instructed his staff at the Jakarta City Hall to be more proactive to ensure that religious building projects do not face prolonged delays in the future.
