Pranavi Urs wins historic individual golf gold at Asian Games
Pranavi Urs has made history at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, becoming the first Indian woman to win an individual gold medal in golf. Competing at the Kasugai Country Club East Course, the 23-year-old from Mysuru finished with a total score of 15-under 265. Despite an early setback involving a triple bogey on the third hole, Urs recovered with key birdies to secure a one-stroke victory over China’s Yin Ruoning and Singapore’s Shannon Tan.
In addition to her individual triumph, Urs helped the Indian women’s golf team secure a silver medal in the team event. Alongside teammates Aditi Ashok and Diksha Dagar, the trio finished with a combined score of 14-under 546, marking India’s first-ever medal in the women’s team golf competition at the Asian Games. China claimed the gold in the team category.
The achievement marks a significant milestone for Indian golf, as it is the country’s first golf gold at the Games since Shiv Kapur won the men’s individual title in 2002.
