Prasad Corp opens film restoration center in Manila
Prasad Corp has launched a Center of Excellence for Film and Tape Preservation, Digitisation, and Restoration in Mandaluyong, Manila. The new facility is intended to strengthen the company’s presence in the Asia-Pacific region, joining its existing operations in the United States, India, Saudi Arabia, and Japan.
The center serves as a comprehensive hub for the digitization and both chemical and digital restoration of various archival materials, including motion picture film, videotapes, documents, books, photographs, and microfilm. A primary feature of the facility is the DFT POLAR HQ, a native 8K archive scanner equipped with a true RGB sensor and HDR capability. This technology includes a Smart Motion Film Gate designed to safely handle fragile, aged, or warped film.
In addition to digital workflows, the center provides specialized chemical restoration to stabilize and revive deteriorated film elements. This process is integrated with post-production services such as content enhancement, upconversion, and mastering to facilitate modern content distribution.
